Italy records hottest summer since 1950 as August breaks heat records
Italy logged an average summer temperature of 24.3 degrees Celsius this year, the hottest since records began in 1950, according to the National Research Council's Institute for BioEconomy. August alone averaged 25.6 degrees Celsius, surpassing previous August records and creating drought pressure in key farming regions across northwestern lowlands and the Apennines.
