Trump administration proposes stripping tax-exempt status from schools that consider race in admissions
The Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service issued a proposed rule Thursday that would disqualify private schools from tax-exempt status if they consider race in admissions, scholarships, athletics or other school programs. The measure could affect as many as 18,000 educational institutions and would require a public comment period before taking effect, potentially as early as June 2027.
