Prediction market fines GOP candidate for wagering on her own North Carolina race
Laurie Buckhout, a Republican House candidate in North Carolina's 1st Congressional District, has been suspended for three years by Kalshi and assessed a fine of nearly $2,600 after the platform determined she bet on her own race. Buckhout purchased less than $1,000 in contracts related to the contest after announcing her candidacy last December against incumbent Rep. Don Davis.
