Chemist Ada Yonath, Nobel laureate, dies at 87
Ada Yonath received the 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and the 2002 Israel Prize in Chemistry before her death at 87. A Jerusalem native, she spent her career at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, where she became the first scientist to determine the ribosome's complete three-dimensional structure despite considerable resistance from peers who viewed her approach as implausible.
