Nepal's catastrophic floods expose vulnerability of hydropower infrastructure

Last week's flooding in Nepal destroyed hydropower plants and left up to 900 workers unaccounted for, with hundreds trapped in tunnels. The disaster removed approximately one-tenth of the country's power capacity by taking 700 megawatts offline, and killed over 900 people across Nepal and China combined, with 4,700 missing.
