Venus Williams exits US Open in first round to Sofia Kenin after midnight start

Venus Williams lost to Sofia Kenin 6-2, 7-6 (6) in the first round of the US Open, falling in straight sets after not taking the court until after midnight. The 46-year-old's match was delayed by Novak Djokovic's nearly 4.5-hour defeat to Mariano Navone on Arthur Ashe Stadium. Williams has now lost six consecutive matches at the US Open since winning in the first round in 2019.
