US to impose new Iran sanctions weekly, Treasury secretary says
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the United States will unveil new secondary sanctions targeting Iran every week, starting with banks. The Treasury Department on Friday penalized UAE operations of Egypt's Banque Misr for suspected financial connections to Iran, and Bessent said he will press G20 finance ministers to cut economic ties to the country or face sanctions themselves.
