He admitted the charges at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court just before his trial was to begin, having drugged his wife repeatedly at their home.

Magdalena Andersson, the Social Democrats leader, has begun coalition negotiations to form a new government. Full results are expected after overseas votes are counted on Wednesday.
