One dead and more than 30 missing after ferry sinks off Vanuatu
The MV Matui sank in rough seas on Friday while travelling between the islands of Santo and Ambae with more than 40 passengers and crew aboard. One person has been confirmed dead, 15 survivors accounted for, and more than 30 remain missing. Vanuatu's prime minister's office attributed the loss to strong winds, unheeded marine warnings and possible vessel overloading.
