Israel kills Hamas commander who participated in October 7 attack
The Israeli military announced it had killed Muhammad Yazouri, a Hamas commander in the Khan Yunis Brigade, in a strike in southern Gaza. Hamas confirmed Yazouri's death and his role in planning the October 7 attack. Years before the assault, mediators had warned Israel that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was considering a major kidnapping operation if hostage negotiations remained stalled.
