Fire breaks out during demolition of quake-damaged chimney at Kumamoto paper factory

A fire erupted Thursday evening as workers demolished a damaged chimney at a Nippon Paper Industries factory in Kumamoto, Japan. The chimney had been damaged in a magnitude 7.1 earthquake on July 28 that killed nine factory employees when an 80-meter-high chimney collapsed. The fire was extinguished after about 6.5 hours, with no injuries reported from the blaze itself.
