Farm union leader stands trial over violent rhetoric against environmentalists

Bertrand Venteau, president of the Coordination Rurale agricultural union, acknowledged remarks made in December 2025 in which he said he wanted to "do in the greens" when tried on September 3 in Auch. He defended the words as political metaphor and denied any call to violence, though supporters of his union threw eggs at environmental groups attending the hearing as civil parties.
