Trump administration supports OpenAI in New York Times copyright case

The Trump administration filed a brief in Manhattan federal court supporting OpenAI's position that AI training constitutes fair use of copyrighted material. The government cited scientific advancement and national security concerns. The case stems from a 2023 lawsuit by the New York Times accusing OpenAI and Microsoft of using the newspaper's articles without authorization to train ChatGPT.
