Monfils wins on his 40th birthday to become oldest US Open champion since 1992

Gael Monfils defeated Adolfo Daniel Vallejo 2-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-0 in the first round at the US Open on Tuesday, becoming the oldest man to win a match at the tournament since Jimmy Connors in 1992, who also won on his 40th birthday. The New York crowd sang 'Happy Birthday' to the French veteran during his post-match interview.
