State Department seeks to require citizenship proof from parents seeking passports for minors

A new State Department proposal would demand that mothers and fathers document their citizenship or legal status before their children can obtain passports. The initiative implements an August 6 executive order by President Trump that targets birth tourism and narrows birthright citizenship protections.
