US launches airstrikes on Iranian targets as tensions escalate

The US launched airstrikes on Iranian targets Tuesday in response to attempted attacks on commercial ships and American service members in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran reported explosions on Qeshm Island, Bandar Abbas, and Chabahar, with state media saying four missiles hit Sistan-Baluchestan province. Crude oil futures rose to around $90, a 4.8 per cent increase, in midafternoon trading Tuesday.
