East Jerusalem schools shut down over failure to renew teacher entry permits

Israel did not renew entry permits for more than 70 teachers at private schools in east Jerusalem, forcing a strike on Tuesday. According to the General Secretariat for Christian Educational Institutions of Jerusalem, the abrupt action made it impossible to begin the school year. About 15,000 students attend the affected schools.
