Serbia plans forest restoration as wildfires become more common

More than a month after flames swept through Serbia's Deliblatska Pescara reserve, foresters are planning restoration of its dunes and woodlands to better withstand future fires. From 2023 to 2025, Serbia experienced its worst three-year period for wildfires this century, prompting experts to consider replacing highly flammable conifers with species like birch, poplar, ash and oak.
