Former British PM Keir Starmer resigns his parliamentary seat

Keir Starmer, who left office on July 20 after two years as prime minister, announced his resignation from the House of Commons as a Labour MP. His departure will force a by-election in his Holborn and St Pancras constituency in central London. Starmer said in a statement he wants to focus on international policy, defence, security, trade and technology.
