Eurozone inflation accelerates to 3.3% in August, driven by energy costs
Eurozone inflation rose to 3.3% in August from 2.9% in July, according to Eurostat's preliminary estimate. Energy prices surged 14.3% year-on-year, up from 10.3% in July, as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East pushed up fossil fuel costs. The European Central Bank's executive committee will meet on September 10 to decide on interest rates amid the price surge.
