UNHCR declines involvement in Malaysia's Myanmar refugee return plan, citing safety concerns
Malaysia's Home Ministry announced it would send 1,476 refugees back to Myanmar on September 29 as the first phase of a voluntary repatriation programme. The United Nations refugee agency said it played no part in the initiative and cautioned that armed conflict in Myanmar makes such returns dangerous.
