Bomb attacks by Mexican gangs intensify across the country

A car bomb detonated outside police headquarters in Zacatecas on Sunday, injuring at least 11 people and damaging about 40 buildings. Zacatecas state governor David Monreal said initial reports suggest the attack was retaliation for the arrest of a criminal group member. Local authorities say such attacks have escalated sharply, with Zacatecas registering one incident in 2024, six in 2025, and 10 so far this year.
