Ebola cases in Congo pass 6,000, largest outbreak in country's history

Confirmed cases of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo have exceeded 6,000, with 2,911 deaths recorded, according to the government's communication ministry. The epidemic is now the largest in the country's history, surpassing a previous outbreak that lasted from 2018 to 2020. The outbreak is caused by the Bundibugyo strain, for which no approved vaccines or treatments exist.
