Vietnamese coffee farmers switch to durian to meet Chinese demand

Vietnam became China's biggest durian supplier by volume last year, after officially entering the market following a 2022 trade protocol. Farmers in the Central Highlands, traditionally the world's second-largest coffee producer, are shifting to durian cultivation, with the area dedicated to the crop rising more than fivefold to 200,000 hectares over the past decade.
