Orangutan rescued from Borneo fire zone battles respiratory illness

An orangutan was found weak on a palm-oil plantation near a fire site in Ketapang, West Kalimantan on Sunday morning. A wildlife foundation veterinarian diagnosed it with acute respiratory infection caused by smoke inhalation and the foundation has rescued seven orangutans due to fires so far. Wildfires burned at least 202,010 hectares across Borneo and Sumatra from January to July.
