Wildfires sweep Algeria's northeast as death toll climbs
Algeria reported at least 12 deaths from wildfires in the northeast, with authorities warning the number will grow. Survivors lost homes and entire villages as thousands battled the blazes amid extreme heat and drought. One town saw at least 73 deaths, including 21 members of a single family, and President Tebboune suggested the fires may have been deliberately set.
