One person has been confirmed dead, 15 survivors accounted for, and more than 30 remain missing. Vanuatu's prime minister's office attributed the loss to strong winds, unheeded marine warnings and possible vessel overloading.

1 h agoMaritime trackers received reports of an attack on a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday. The British navy-affiliated agency UKMTO said a projectile hit the ship, with damage and crew status unknown. The report comes after Saudi Arabia temporarily closed its East-West pipeline following a drone attack that Baghdad and Riyadh said originated in Iraq.

3 h agoUkraine's president offered to meet Russia's leader at the G20 summit in Miami to advance talks on ending the war. The Kremlin rejected the proposal, saying Zelensky should travel to Moscow if he wants to meet Putin, and added it had not yet decided whether Putin would attend the summit.

Norris said it was one of the best laps of his career, with everything coming together on the final lap.

9 h agoRussian airstrikes across multiple Ukrainian regions on Saturday killed six people and injured dozens, damaging residential buildings and infrastructure. In the Odesa region alone, 37 people including an infant were injured in overnight attacks, with two people reported missing. The governor of Zhytomyr region said a Russian strike on a grocery store in the town of Zvyahel killed two people.

10 h agoUkrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was ready to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit in Miami in December. The Kremlin rejected the proposal, saying it preferred to meet in Moscow. Russia said it was prepared to resume negotiations with Ukraine but would not halt military operations during talks.

13 h agoA train carrying 186 passengers derailed near Cleon in northwestern France on Friday evening, injuring 44 people including one in critical condition. Investigators found a rail fragment on the track and are treating sabotage as the main line of inquiry.
