Zagreb protest over Croatia waste cleanup delays

2 h agoTens of thousands gathered in Zagreb's central square on September 5 to protest delayed cleanup of 34,000-37,000 tons of waste, much imported from Italy in 2023-2024, near Gospic. Environmentalists say the waste includes medical and industrial waste contaminating air, soil and water. Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said the government selected a contractor for the first cleanup phase.

3 h agoUS Central Command said Saturday that three Iranian crude oil carriers came under attack, with one positioned off Kharg Island near Iran's key oil export hub. An aircraft carrier and guided-missile destroyer had evaded multiple unprovoked Iranian attacks, the command said.
