Asian shares rise as Fed official signals caution on rate hikes
Asian equities climbed on Friday as investors responded to remarks from Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller suggesting the central bank may hold rates steady if upcoming data continues to show disinflation. Waller's comments pushed market expectations of a rate hike this month down to 50 per cent from 63 per cent a day earlier, while the yen strengthened 2.6 per cent this week to 155.7 per dollar.
