US House passes bill penalizing universities for Israel boycotts
The US House of Representatives passed the Protect Economic and Academic Freedom Act on Thursday with a vote of 237-169, penalizing universities that participate in boycotts of Israel or restrict students from traveling there. The bill, which requires institutions receiving federal funds not to impose restrictions on programs related to Israel, now goes to the Senate.
