Powerful Pacific hurricane pair bears down as El Niño supercharges the ocean

Category 4 storms Lowell and Karina will remain well away from Hawaii, the National Hurricane Center says. A third tropical system is also intensifying as it crosses waters unusually heated by one of the strongest El Niño patterns on record.
